Type II – Sterile; 4 to 4-1/2 oz. (118 to 133 ml.) capacity, with graduations of oz. and ml/cc in 1/4 oz. (7 ml.) and 10 ml/cc increments molded into the container. Peel open pouch (O.R. pack). White lid not acceptable. The lid shall have provisions for patient identification, either a label or written surface, that accepts, at a minimum, the patient’s name, date and room number. The OR pouch shall permit aseptic handling of and delivery of the cup, uncontaminated, onto a sterile field. A tear-open type package shall not be acceptable. The label of immediate container shall bear the word “sterile”.
Style II – With metal lid.
Type I – Nonsterile – 4-1/2 to 5 oz. (133 to 148 ml.) capacity, with graduation of oz. and ml/cc in 1/4 oz. (7 ml.) and 10 ml/cc increments molded into the container. The lid shall have full circumference screw rings; a gasket-like seal or liner to provide a waterproof seal; an indicator to assure proper alignment. The lid shall be inscribed or labeled “please tighten cap securely” or similar words. The lid shall prevent leakage of the contents regardless of the position of the container. The container shall be designed to accept a label which adheres under refrigeration. The label must include the patient’s name, date and room number. The label shall be placed on the container, to ensure proper identification.
