PAD, HEAT TREATMENT
(Electric)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description as a replacement for MIL-P-36358B which is cancelled.
Salient Characteristics:
The electric heat treatment pad shall be a conventional type consisting of a thermoplastic material envelope, such as vinyl, which is used to enclose a resistance wire heating element assembly. Wetproof construction shall be provided by means of the envelope which shall have dielectrically or heat sealed seams to exclude moisture. The water proof envelope shall be free of perforations, cuts, tears, and ruptures. It shall not be free of perforations, cuts, tears, and ruptures. It shall not exhibit tackiness, blisters, or cracks. The envelope shall be capable of being cleaned with a damp antiseptic cleaning cloth. Overall dimensions of the pad shall be 15 inches plus or minus 1 inch long by 12 inches plus or minus 1 inch wide.
The pad heating element shall be mounted on a layer of burlap or polyester reinforced cotton insulating material, and shall be positioned in such a manner as to distribute the resulting heat evenly over both sides of the pad. The pad shall operate satisfactorily or 115 volts, 60 Hz, AC, and shall be rated at 40-60 watts.
