secured with adhesive at the two narrow ends and leaving a cuff 6 inches minimum deep to minimize contamination during placement. The entire head drape shall be resistant to penetration by fluids and dry particles. The reinforced area shall be impervious to fluids yet highly absorbent, eliminating strike-through while preventing pooling of fluids. The head shall have adequate directions for proper placement clearly imprinted thereon.
Split Sheet. The split sheet shall be made of a soft nonwoven fabric with draping qualities like linen, with minimal memory or spring-back qualities, measuring a minimum of 72 by 114 inches, designed with a “U” shaped double-faced pressure sensitive tape on the patient side of the sheet and the inner edges of the split. The split shall measure a minimum of 2-1/2 inches wide by 20 inches long and be located at one end of the sheet. The tape shall facilitate securing the split sheet to the patient. The split sheet shall have a minimum 18 by 20 inch impervious coated piece of nonwoven fabric reinforcement located around the pressure sensitive tape area, suitably secured with adhesive on the operative side of the sheet. The split sheet shall have a two-hole tubing tab located on the bottom portion of the reinforced area below the split. The tab shall allow securing of suction tubing, and active electrodes without the use of towel clips. The reinforced area shall be impervious to fluids, eliminating strike-through while preventing pooling of fluids. The split sheet shall be fan-folded to facilitate placement on the patient and shall have adequate directions for proper placement clearly imprinted thereon.
Gowns. The pack shall include two large size gowns made of a soft, comfortable, pliable, and quiet nonwoven fabric, resistant to fluid and dry particle penetration, with high breathability, facilitating comfort when worn for long periods of time. The gowns shall be large enough to cover the entire back of the wearer and contain stockinette cuffs conforming to the wrists, and two sets of a suitable ties closure that will not rip, or separate from the gown when being tied. One set shall be inside and one set outside the gown. The ties shall be designed to minimize the possibility of contamination when being tied. One of the gowns and one of the towels shall be individually packaged in a light plastic or polypropylene wrapper, with minimal memory for ease of opening, and be located in the top of the overwrap for use by the scrub nurse.
