fittings of appropriate size. The overflow shall be located at one end of the tank in such a manner that when the tank is filled to a point not less than 4 inches below the top rim, the overflow of water shall take place.
The bath shall have one thermostatic water-mixing valve having a nominal delivery capacity of 20 gallons of water per minute and shall have a temperature range extending from cold water to 120°F (48.0°C) maximum. A quick-acting dial thermometer shall be mounted in the tank to permit easy and constant reading of the water temperature. The temperature range of the thermometer shall be from 40°F (40C) to 140°F (60°C).
The bath shall be equipped with an electric turbine ejector with an aerator embodied therein, which is operated by not less than a 1/3 HP, constant speed, nominal 115 volt, 60 Hz motor. The motor shall be of the type not requiring lubrication. A protective device shall be mounted in or behind the pump inlet to eliminate a hazard to patient’s and operator’s fingers. The turbine ejector shall have a raising and lowering device to permit adjustment. The device design shall be such that only a slight pressure is necessary for upward and downward adjustments.
Surfaces to be welded shall be free from grease, oil, dirt, or other foreign material. Exposed welds shall be ground smooth to blend with adjacent surfaces. Welds shall be continuous and clean, free from pitting, splatter, and discoloration. All welds shall be sound, untracked, and unbroken.
All exposed corners and edges shall be broken, rounded, or otherwise treated to eliminate sharp edges. All exposed corrosion-resisting steel surfaces, including the inside of the tank, shall be free from pit-marks, weld seams, scale, and shall have a NO. 4 commercial finish. The finish shall be uniform and free of coarse grind marks and scratched areas.
Two copies of complete instructions for installation, operation, and maintenance, and a list of spare parts, shall be supplied with each bath.
The bath shall meet the requirements of Underwriters Laboratories’ Standard UL 544, “Medical and Dental Equipment”. The conditions for production and/or marketing of this item, if required by the Food and Drug administration, shall be specified in the procurement of this item.
