The table top shelf and bottom shelf shall be made of corrosion-resisting steel sheets 0.0625 inch thick (No.16 United States Standard Gage). All edges of the top shelf and bottom shelf shall be flanged downward 1 – 1-1/2 inches and hemmed a minimum of 3/8 inch. The corners shall be notched to fit the contours of the uprights. All shelves shall be continuously welded at all vertical contact points with the uprights the full distance of the turndown. The top shall be located 30 inches to 33 inches above the floor and the shelf shall be located 15 inches to 17 inches above the floor.
The four table legs shall each be fitted with a swivel-type, 3 inch minimum diameter, 3/4 inch minimum width, electrically conductive caster. Two of the casters shall have a brake as shown in figure 1. Each caster shall have a nominal load rating of 75 pounds.
The table shall be welded construction throughout. The welding rods shall be of corrosion-resisting steel similar in composition to the welded members. Surfaces to be welded shall be free from grease, oil, dirt, or other foreign material.
All weld joints shall blend into the adjacent metal in gradual, smooth curves. Beads shall be smooth and free of slag or excessive spatter. Sufficient metal shall be added to provide a suitable fillet or reinforcement. All welds shall be continuous with no visible voids, pin holes, or cracks.
All exposed corners and edges shall be broken, rounded, or otherwise treated to eliminate sharp edges. All exposed corrosion-resisting steel surfaces shall be free from pit marks, weld seams, scale, and shall have a No. 4 commercial finish. The finish shall be uniform and free of coarse grind marks and scratched areas.
The table shall be furnished clean and free of oil, grease, dirt, or other contamination. The assembled table shall meet the electrical conductivity requirements of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Code No. 99, Health Care Facilities.
Workmanship. The surgical instrument and surgical dressing table shall be free from defects which detract from their appearance or impair their serviceability.
