Outside surface of bag is not free of cuts, cracks, abrasions, tears, pits, or pinholes.
Tying tab is missing or not located as specified.
Rubber tab hole is not reinforced.
Tab eyelets are not free of cuts, breaks, flash, and sharpness.
Thread of screw cap does not mate smoothly with thread opening on bag.
Tie tape on type II bag is not long enough.
Bag surface is not free of unspecified protrusions, occlusions, flash, or imbedded foreign matter.
Bag is not free of dirt, grease, oil, and other foreign matter.
Sampling for tests. Sampling for tests, including dimensional tests, shall be conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-105, with an AQL of 2.5 (percent defective) and an inspection level of S-1. The unit of product for test purposes shall be one ice bag.
a. First article. Where a first article sample is required, all tests shall be performed on that unit.
b. Acceptance testing. When a first article sample has not been required, one unit shall be subjected to the performance test specified herein. If a test article sample has successfully passed all tests, performance test shall not be required at acceptance.
Tests.
Tensile Strength. Tensile strength testing shall be according to ASTM D-412. A tensile strength of less than 1300 pounds per square inch shall constitute a defect.
Permanency of Color. The surface of the body of the bag shall be rubbed briskly with a ball of soft cotton for a period of one minute. The surface of the bag and cotton for a period of one minute. The surface of the bag and cotton ball shall be inspected for any evidence of color rubbing off the bag. Any evidence of color loss shall constitute a defect.
