The Mayo stand and tray cover shall be made of a plastic material at least 2.75 mils thick and shall be impervious to fluids. The cover shall be fan-folded with a 6 inch cuff on the distal end for sterile draping of the Mayo stand. The pad shall be large enough to cover the surface of the Mayo tray.
The three (3) gowns shall be large or extra large size. All gowns shall:
* Be soft, comfortable, pliable, quiet and memory free
* Have high breathability facilitating comfort for wearing for long period of time
* Be fluid repellent
* Have stockinette cuffs that shall conform to the wrists
* Be the wrap-around type to completely cover the back of the individual gowned
* Have a tie closure that shall not rip or separate when tying. The gown shall be designed to minimize the possibility of contamination when tying.
* One gown with towel shall be in an overwrap scrub nurse
The four (4) utility drapes shall be water repellent and have an adhesive strip on the back for skin adherence
The pack shall have a T-shaped laparotomy sheet, approximately 123 inches long with an adjustable 3 feet by 12 inch fenestration. The reinforcement area shall be impervious to fluids yet be highly absorbent, eliminating strike-through while preventing pooling of fluids. The remainder of the drape shall be fluid/moisture resistant. The sheet shall have ESU cord/suction tubing holders and shall contain an instrument pad as part of the drape. The sheet shall be cuffed and fan-folded to permit aseptic draping of the operative area.
The pack shall have a nonwoven fabric or plastic suture bag.
All nonwoven material shall be fabricated of a soft material with minimal memory for good drapeability. The material shall resist tearing, pilling and linting, and shall be fluid/water repellent.
If the pack is opened and not used, it shall be capable of re-sterilization by ethylene oxide.
