When operated at a voltage equal to the rated voltage of the lamp, it shall have the following beam characteristics:
a. Not less than 2000 foot-candles at beam center, 36 inches in front of rim of reflector.
b. Not less than 600 foot-candles at the periphery of a 5 inch-diameter circle, 38 inches in front of rim reflector.
c. Color temperature in excess of 3750°K.
d. Radiant energy, measured perpendicular to the light beam at a distance 38 inches from the rim of the reflector, shall not exceed 50,000 microwatts per square centimeter.
The electric cord included with this lamp shall be not less than 20 feet long and shall not be provided with a male plug on the end, since male plugs will be supplied with wall receptacles at the time the wall receptacles are installed in the hospital operating room, or other explosive area, where this surgical light may be utilized. Near the end of the cord, a tag shall be attached with appropriate printing thereon cautioning that only an explosion-proof male plug be attached thereto. Cord shall be heavy-duty, 3 conductor, flexible S, SO, ST, or STO type.
The lamphead shall be easily adjustable and capable of being angulated in its supporting yoke a minimum of 30° toward the vertical support column and 30° away from the vertical support column. Maximum angulation of the lamphead away from and toward the vertical support column shall not exceed that required for UL approval.
The light shall operate on 120 volts, 50/60 Hz AC or DC (as specified), 150 watts. The surgical light shall be capable of 220 volt operation with a suitable bulb (not supplied).
Workmanship. The surgical light shall be free from objects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit. Each (EA). One surgical light, as specified, constitutes one unit.
