The supporting frame uprights, floor mounts, diagonal braces and horizontal rails, shall be fabricated of cold-rolled steel, suitably protected against corrosion by zinc-plating an equally effective means. The uprights and floor mounts shall not be less than 12 gauge. The diagonal braces and rails shall not be less than 16 gauge (manufacturer’s standard gauge).
The rack shall be capable of being assembled easily without the use of special tools or equipment. When fully assembled the rack shall be free of wobble of distortion, whether empty or filled with a maximum of 819 lb (367.7 Kg).
Each bin, whether 5-3/4 inches or 8-3/4 inches wide, shall be capable of supporting 15 lbs (6.8 Kg) of contents.
All storage unit components including hardware shall be corrosion-resistant.
Where painting or plating is used, appropriate cleaning and priming shall be performed prior to finishing. Finish shall provide a pleasing professional appearance and be free of gaps, scratches, chips, and other imperfections.
Two sets of instructions for assembly and maintenance shall be supplied with each unit of issue.
Workmanship. The pharmaceuticals storage unit shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit. Each (EA). One pharmaceuticals storage unit, as specified, constitutes one unit.
Quality Assurance Provisions.
Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contact or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
