Inspection. Inspection, as used herein, is defined as both examination (such as visual or auditory investigation without the use of special laboratory appliances or procedures) and testing (determination by technical means of physical and chemical properties) of the item.
First article inspection. First article inspection shall be performed on the tray when a first article sample is required. This inspection shall include tray set the examination and tests.
Tests. Tests shall be conducted to determine compliance with specification requirements. Where feasible, the same sample shall be used for the determination of two or more test characteristics.
Sampling for tests. Sampling for tests including dimensional test, shall be conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-105 and as specified herein. The unit of product for test purposes shall be one instrument tray.

Examination. The trays shall be examined to determine compliance with all requirements contained in this specification.
Classification of defects. Examination shall be conducted in accordance with the classification of defects listed on Table II. Examination shall not be restricted to the classified possible defects listed below.
