General purpose headrest. Shall be of Mayfield design and attach to the attachment unit to be used in procedures which require the supine position. Floating rubber cups mounted on a half moon frame shall conform to the shape of the head. The caterpillar tread action of the cups shall provide firm fixation. The more firmly the head is placed against the cups, the more securely it shall be locked into position. The head shall be repositioned up or down during the procedure by simply releasing the locking lever or the attachment unit and changing the position.
Horseshoe headrest. Shall be of Mayfield design for use in all prone position procedures. The horseshoe headrest shall attach to the attachment unit by means of a transitional member and Gardner clamp adapter. Shall be padded with soft, pliable sponge rubber for equalized weight distribution and incorporate quick change pads. The horseshoe width shall be quickly adjusted to accommodate various head sizes.
Cross bar attachment. Shall be of Mayfield design and used when the patient is in the sitting position for procedures such as Posterior Fossa Craniotomy or a Posterior Cervical Laminectomy. The crossbar shall attach to the operation table and the Neurosurgical Attachment Unit shall attach to the crossbar. Shall be supplied with a Gardner skull clamp adapter to facilitate the attachment of the skull clamp.
Skull clamp. Shall provide three-point pin fixation to enable rigid skeletal fixation for supine prone, lateral, or sitting positions during neurosurgical procedures. Shall have a mechanism to allow insertion of three removable cone shaped corrosion-resisting pins to adult sizes.
Width of the skull clamp. Shall be adjustable by means of a ratchet with a quick release knob. Shall have a large calibrated adjusting knob to permit precise positioning of pins and selection of applied pressure. The skull clamp shall be supplied with three adult cone-shaped pins. The clamp shall be capable of withstanding pressure and temperatures required for sterilization.
