COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
JAR, FORCEPS,
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers an autoclavable, plastic forceps jar used for holding forceps in military medical treatment facilities.
Salient characteristics:
Shall be an autoclavable, polypropylene forceps jar. Jar shall be made in the following nominal heights:
Short – Approximately 5-1/4 inches (13.3 cm) high, minimum interior depth shall be 4-1/2 inches (11.4 cm).
Tall – Approximately 8 inches (20.3 cm) high, minimum interior depth shall be 1-1/8 inches (18.1 cm).
The inside diameter of the jar shall be at least 2 inches (5.1 cm).
The base of the jar shall be appropriately weighted for stability. The jar shall be stable when placed on a flat level surface.
The jar shall not be affected (color change, distortion, etc.) by the common chemicals with which it may be subjected.
The jar shall be free from objectionable odor, sharp edges, cracks, holes, or thin areas.
Unit. Each (EA). One jar, of the size specified, constitutes one unit.
Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and conforms to the producers’ own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Regulatory requirements.
Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. If the product covered by this document has been determined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to be under its jurisdiction, the offeror/contractor shall comply, and be responsible for compliance
