The dropper bottles shall be provided with the screw cap closure in place.
The screw caps shall be fabricated from a molded plastic material with sidewalls of adequate strength and weight for the purpose intended. The liner edges of the cap shall be threaded with a continuous thread formed as an integral part of the cap to mate and form a tight fit with the finish of the bottle.
The screw cap shall contain a centrally located hole for placement of a dropper assembly consisting of a pipet with attached bulb. The cap with the dropper assembly shall fit the bottle to form a liquid tight seal.
Pipets shall be fabricated from clear glass tubing, or from natural colored plastic material. Plastic pipets shall be nontoxic, in accordance with FDA food additive regulations, Food and Drug Administration, Code of Federal Regulations, Title 21, Food and Drug, Parts 1 to 129. Plastic pipets shall show no decomposition or deformation when exposed to weak acids, in accordance with The American Society for Testing and Materials Designation D 543.
The pipet shall have a straight, tapered or blunt point tip and shall fit snugly into the rubber bulb.
The bulbs shall be made of rubber and shall have a sealing flange of uniform thickness and diameter to match the inside diameter of the screw cap.
Workmanship. Workmanship shall be first class throughout. The dropper bottles, screw caps. Pipets and bulbs shall be free from defects which detract from their appearance or may impair their serviceability. All components shall be supplied clean, dry and free of dirt or foreign matter.
Unit. Each (EA) for ¼ oz. bottle, or one box (BX) containing twelve ½- or 1 oz. bottles, or one box (BX) containing seventy-two 2 oz. bottles, as specified, constitutes one unit.
Reference standard. Where standard is referenced herein, the issue of that standard in effect on the date of solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with stated requirements.
Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and conforms to the producers’ own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
