Tests. Tests shall be conducted to determine compliance with specification requirements. Where feasible, the same sample shall be used for the determination of two or more test characteristics.
Sampling for examination. Sampling for examination shall be conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-105, with an AQL of 1.0 (percent defective) and an inspection level of II. The unit of product for examination purposes shall be one wash basin as specified in this description.
Defects.
Basin is not fabricated seamlessly from American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) Series 300 corrosion-resisting steel.
Basin top is not flanged outward with a circular bead underneath.
Basin does not stack properly.
Basin does not rest evenly on a flat surface without rock or wobble.
Top edge of basin is not free of sharpness or burrs.
Basin does not have a commercial No.4 finish, or better.
Basin surface is not free of pits, scales, scratches, or grinding and trimming marks.
Basin is not free of dirt, grease, graphite, metallic particles, or other foreign particles.
Sampling for tests. Sampling for tests, including dimensional test, shall be conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-105, with an AQL of 2.5 (percent defective) and an inspection level of S-1. The unit of product for test purposes shall be one wash basin.
Tests.
Capacity. With the basin sitting on a flat surface, it shall be filled with water from a graduated source. Having a capacity greater or less than specified, shall constitute a defect.
Leakage. With the basin sitting on a flat surface, it shall be filled with water and allowed to stand for a period of six hours. Any evidence of leakage shall constitute a defect.
