COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
EXERCISER, LUNG INHALATION THERAPY
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description describes a pulmonary exercise unit.
Salient characteristics. The unit shall be a plastic pulmonary exercise device that uses the body function of inspiration.
The pulmonary exercise unit shall have a maximum 4000 ml. capacity for volume measurement, graduated in 200-250 ml. increments. The exercise units shall be provided with a flowrate device to monitor the inhalation rate. The rate of inspiration shall be visually indicated to the patient. The exercise unit shall be constructed in a way that shields the patient from undesirable air. A plastic mouthpiece and corrugated tube shall be connected 3 (7.62 cm) inches ± 1 (2.54 cm) inch from the base of the exerciser.
Workmanship. The pulmonary exercise unit shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit. Package (PG). Each unit shall be individually packaged. One package containing 12 individually packaged units, as specified, constitutes one unit.
Quality Assurance Provisions.
Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
