BED, ADJUSTABLE (Manual)

This commercial item description describes a manual general ward use bed.
Salient characteristics: Bed, Adjustable (Manual) with IV Pole, consists Of an all steel frame mounted on 5 inch (12.70 cm) swivel caster, two with tread lock brakes (one at head and one at foot end) with head and foot boards easily removed without the use of tools, wood or particle board protected with laminate and conform to NFPA 255, Class A Fire Retardant Materials. Head board to accommodate a swinging arm type trapeze assembly or bed be provided with a trapeze support capable of supporting a 275 pound (124.74 kg) load without permanent distortion. Bed shall have six IV Sockets (3 on each side) located at head, center and foot end of frame. Bed equipped with chromium plated, epoxy coated or nylon side rails firmly attached to the main frame, easily adjustable and fastened securely in all attainable positions, minimum length of 54 inches (137.16 cm). Perforated or solid steel pan with mattress stop at foot end, to accommodate a mattress 80 inches (203.20 cm) by 36 inches (91.44 cm) and capable of supporting a 300 pound (136.08 kg) load placed on any corner without permanent deformity of any part of the bed; frame and other components secured by continuous welds, steel (solid) rivets or bolts, spot or tack welds. Bolt type fasteners to include positive type locking features. Metal surfaces not of corrosion resisting steel, shall be coated with an epoxy resin or similar protective coatings, baked enamel prohibited. Crank(s) with retractable or folding crank handles designed and constructed so as not to permit interference with personnel and provide height and position adjustment with a minimum of effort and smooth operation. Handles or crank shafts when folded or stored position shall not create a hazard to patients or personnel; minimum of basic Fowler and semi-Fowler, Trendelenburg and reverse-Trendelenburg, and hi-low horizontal positions; bumpers to Prevent damage or marring of walls. Bed operation to be quiet and smooth and perform all therapeutic positions with a 300 pound (136.08 kg) load for a minimum of 2100 complete cycles. With the mattress support frame in a horizontal position the bed shall be capable of lifting an evenly distributed 600 pound (272.16 kg) load twice. Dimensions: Maximum length with bumpers -91 inches (231.14 cm); maximum width including side rails (raised or lowered) 42 inches (106.68 cm). Height of mattress support surface in low position - 16-1/2 inches to 19-1/2 inches (41.91 cm to 49.53 cm). Height of mattress support surface in high position 28 inches to 32 inches (71.12 cmto 81.28 cm). Minimum height of bed frame to floor, 6-1/2 inches (16.51 cm), (adaptors or extenders not permitted). Each bed permanently marked with manufacturer’s name, model, serial number and packaged to completely enclose bed.
