The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description as a replacement for VA Specification X-1558b, which is cancelled.
This commercial item description describes a pad used on a mattress or chair as an aid in preventing decubiti.
Salient characteristics: This Decubital pad is made of: pile fiber, 100% Type 212 Kodel Polyester; foam coating; finished fabric 26 oz. per square yard (737.07 g); sheared back 11 oz. per square yard (311.84 g); available pile minimum 15 oz. per square yard (425,24g); pile height 1-3/16 inches (3.02 cm); tested and identified in accordance with Standard FF4-72 of Flammable Fabrics Act;
Size 1 - 24 inches by 30 inches (60.96 cm by 76.20 cm)
Size 2 - 30 inches by 40 inches (76.20 cm by 101.60 cm)
Size 3 - 30 inches by 60 inches (76.20 cm by 152.40 cm) (Tolerance for all sizes - plus or minus 1/2 inch)
Contractor certification: The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Regulatory Requirements
Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act - If the product covered by this document has been determined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to be under its jurisdiction, the offeror/contractor shall comply, and be responsible for compliance by its subcontractors, suppliers, with the requirements of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, as amended, and regulations promulgated thereunder. In addition, the offeror/contractor shall comply, and be responsible for compliance by its subcontractors/ of all other applicable Federal, State, and local statutes, ordinances, and regulations.
Recovered Materials - The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered material in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation Subpart 23.4 to the maximum extent practical.
