COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BASIN, WASH (Plastic, Autoclavable)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description as a replacement for VA Specification X-1566f, which is cancelled.
This commercial item description covers a autoclavavle, plastic wash basin.
Salient characteristics: Basin, Wash, Plastic, Autoclavable, reusable, shall be constructed of lightweight sturdy plastic which is autoclavable up to a temperature of 275 degrees F without warp or distortion, flat bottom, shall rest evenly on a flat surface without rock or wobble, shall retain shape when filled with water, shall be free from objectionable odor, sharp edges, cracks, holes, or thin areas, edges shall be smooth or rounded to preclude injury to patients, free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Type I – rectangular shape, minimum capacity of 7-1/2 quarts, with the following dimensions.
Length: 12 inches plus or minus 2 inches
Width: 10 inches plus or minus 2 inches
Height: 6 inches plus or minus 2 inches
Unit. Package (PG). One package containing twelve wash basins, as specified, constitutes one unit.
Type II – round shape, 6 to 7 quart capacity; aqua, blue, or turquoise;
Metric products. Product manufactured in metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, providing they fall within the tolerances specified using conversion tables contained in the latest revision of Federal Standard 376, and all other requirements of this document are met.
If a product manufactured in metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch/pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable.
