1. 1-1/8 inch for a 1 ounce size. (2.86 cm for 28g)
2. 1-1/4 inch for a 2 ounce size. (3.18 cm for 56g)
3. 2 inches for a 4 ounce size. (5.08 cm for 112g)
4. 2-3/4 inches for an 8 ounce size. (6.99 cm for 224g)
5. 3 inches for a 16 ounce size. (7.62 cm for 448g)
The screw cap shall be of either molded plastic or sheet metal and shall have a continuous type thread for closure on the jar. A sheet metal screw cap shall be coated on all sides with a lacquer or opaque baked on enamel finish that protects from corrosion.
The inside of a screw cap shall be secured with a liner that is impervious to water, and in such a manner that:
1. The liner does not fall out.
2. In closure makes full contact with upper edge of a jar.
As an alternate, a liner shall be optional for a plastic screw cap which is used on a jar assembly that conforms to USP moisture permeation requirements for “tight” containers.
Workmanship. The screw cap and ointment jar shall be free from defects which detract from their appearance or impair their serviceability.
UNIT TYPE II. Package (PG). One package (BURADO) jars, as specified, constitutes one unit.
Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and is the same as the product sold in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Regulatory requirements.
Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. If the product covered by this document has been determined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to be under its jurisdiction, the offeror/contractor shall comply, and be responsible for compliance by its subcontractors/ suppliers, with the requirements of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, as amended, and regulations promulgated thereunder. In addition, the offeror/contractor shall comply, and be responsible for compliance by its subcontractors/suppliers, with the requirements of all other applicable Federal, State, and local ordinances, statutes, and regulations.
