URINAL INCONTINENT
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description describes a day and night device, worn by male incontinent patients.
Salient characteristics. Urinal, Incontinent consists of two component parts:
TYPE I Urinary Collection Appliance, complete shall consist of a suspensory and urine reservoir or penile sheath. 1-1/2 inch penis to prevent leakage, adjustable elastic waist belt 1 inch (25 mm) ± 1/4 inch (6 mm) wide by 32 inches (81 cm) ± 1 inch (25 mm) long (unstretched); two rubber thigh straps with buckles. The collection appliance shall be provided with instructions for use.
TYPE II Latex Leg Bag 32 oz. (946 ml)
Leg bag or collection unit shall be compatible with top portion, and shall allow the connection of an external male catheter, conical shaped to the top of the bag, and shall have a step down connector that connects the tubing to the male catheter (the larger dimension shall be the top). Bag shall have a 32 oz. (946 ml) capacity with reinforced rolled seams or seamless one piece latex, with connectors at each end and an inner valve to prevent back-flow, supplied with two leg straps, each 21 inches (53 cm) ± 2 inches (51 mm) long (unstretched), having a minimum of 5 holes, (1/8 inch diameter) (3.17 mm) equally spaced at each end to provide a secure fit; a screw drainage valve for bottom connector and an extension drainage tube 6 inches (152 mm) long with connector and leakproof shut-off clamp; inlet connector shall be threaded or O-ring sealing type for top of bag. The bag shall be a minimum of .035 (0.89 mm) inch thick. The leg bag or collection unit shall have a minimum life expectancy of three months, or shall be provided with sufficient replacement parts to achieve a minimum life expectancy of three months. Pinch points, protrusions, sharp edges, or other features which contribute to patient discomfort are not allowed. Instructions shall be provided for the use of the bag or collection unit and all component parts.
