BEDPAN (Plastic)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description as a replacement for A-A-51354, which is cancelled.
This commercial item description describes a bedpan for nonambulatory patients.
Salient characteristics:
Size 1 – Bedpan, durable strength plastic, oval shaped with side pontoons, permits cleaning in all commercial washers. Without handle, cover, frayed or sharp edges, front or rear pontoons. Bedpan shall not crack or deform when steam washed or when supporting patients up to 250 pounds (113.40 kg). Normal volume shall not be less than 2000 ml. shall be of the design which provides relative comfort, stability and balance during use. All measurement shall be taken at the widest points.
Type I – Disposable (one patient use); beige, tan, yellow or white. Length 14-1/2 inches plus or minus 1/4 inch (37 cm plus or minus .6 cm), width 11 inches plus or minus 1/2 inch (28 cm plus or minus 1.27cm), front depth 3-1/2 inches to 4-9/16 inches (9 cm to 11.6 cm), rear depth 2-1/2 inches plus or minus 1/4 inch (6 cm plus or minus .6 cm), side depth 2-1/2 inches plus or minus 1/4 inch (6 cm plus or minus .6 cm).
Type II – Reusable and autoclavable; aqua, blue or turquoise. Length 14-1/2 inches plus or minus 1/4 inch (37 cm plus or minus .6 cm), width 11 inches plus or minus 1/2 inch (28 cm plus or minus 1.27cm), front depth 3-1/2 inches plus or minus 1/4 inch (9 cm plus or minus .6 cm), rear depth 2-1/2 inches plus or minus 1/4 inch (6 cm plus or minus .6 cm), side depth 2-1/2 inches plus or minus 1/4 inch (6 cm plus or minus .6 cm).
