The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This Commercial Item Description covers a sterile, disposable, surgical drape for use in creating a sterile field in breast or chest surgical procedures.
Salient Characteristics:
The drape shall be a sterile, disposable, surgical drape fabricated of nonwoven material, for creating a sterile field in breast or chest surgical procedures.
The breast/chest drape shall be approximately 72 by 124 inches with a 19 by 13 inch fenestration, and contoured armboard covers. The reinforcement area shall be highly absorbent for fluids without pooling. The width of the drape with the armboard covers shall be approximately 101 inches.
A soft material that is fluid repellent and has minimal memory with good drapeability shall be used for fabrication of the drape. The drape shall resist linting, tearing, and pilling and shall meet NFPA 702 class for flame retardancy requirements.
The drape shall be fan-folded to permit aseptic draping of the operative area. Each drape shall have a clearly imprinted “DIRECTIONS FOR PROPER PLACEMENT” tag.
