COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
COVER, SURGICAL INSTRUMENT STAND
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This Commercial Item Description covers a sterile Mayo stand cover.
Salient characteristics:
The sterile instrument stand cover shall be plastic Mayo stand cover, approximately 23 inches by 55 inches, with a nonwoven fabric tray pad, securely glued, or attached by some other secure means, to the plastic cover. The pad shall be a minimum of 20 inches by 24 inches. The pad may be integral with the plastic cover. The cover shall be suitable for creating a sterile field for surgical procedures.
The plastic Mayo cover (without pa) shall be 2-1/4 mil plus or minus 1/4 mils thick. The distal end shall have a cuff, a minimum of 6 inches in length. The cover shall be fan-folded for ease in handling. The entire Mayo stand cover, including the nonwoven fabric tray pad, shall be water resistant.
Each cover shall be individually packaged in a peel or tear open type package guaranteed to maintain the sterility of its contents until opened or damaged. The cover shall be enclosed in an inner (secondary) wrap that permits aseptic handling of the item after the outer (tear-open) packaging is discarded. The secondary wrap shall consist of a white plastic which is soft and has minimal memory for ease of opening. The cover shall be sterile when tested as specified.
Workmanship. The surgical instrument stand cover shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
