POUCH, LIQUID ABSORBENT (Break Open Type)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This Commercial Item Description covers a break open liquid absorbent pouch for absorbing a spillage.
Salient Characteristics:
Shall be a liquid absorbent pouch consisting of powder in a break open pouch.
Shall be 1-1/4 X 1-1/4 inches in dimension.
Shall be suitable for absorbing spillages of urine, blood and biohazardous fluids. Upon contact with a liquid spillage, the pouch shall break open and release the absorbent powder contents.
Shall have capacity to absorb and contain a 200 milliliter (ml) volumetric spillage.
Shall provide an absorbent powder consisting of superabsorbent polymers. The absorbent powder shall be capable of absorbing aqueous liquid 400 times its own weight.
Shall include cautionary markings on pouch regarding avoiding eye contact with packet, and eating or inhalation of the absorbent.
Workmanship. The liquid absorbent pouch shall be free from defects which detract from their appearance or impair their serviceability.
Unit. Package (PG). One package containing one thousand liquid absorbent pouches, as specified, constitutes one unit.
