COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
SURGICAL PACK, HEAD AND NECK, DISPOSABLE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This Commercial Item Description covers a sterile, disposable surgical pack containing the components necessary to drape a patient and the operative field for various types of head and neck operative procedures.
Salient characteristics:
The head and neck pack shall contain the following components with the dimensions indicated. The components shall be manufactured from a nonwoven fabric, which except for the gown wrapper and towel, is fluid repellent (treated to be resistant to penetration from solutions, oil, alcohol and surfactants). The material shall meet the surface resistivity requirements of the National Fire Protective Association. The nonwoven fabric shall also resist tearing, pilling, and linting.
The components of the pack shall include the following:
Overwrap. The overwrap shall be a minimum of 44 by 85 inches, fan-folded for ease in opening, impervious to fluids and suitable for use as a cover for the surgical back table. A 26 inch wide absorbent nonwoven paper, inner-liner shall be secured with adhesive to the full length of the overwrap.
Head-drape. The head drape shall be made of a soft material with minimal memory or spring-back qualities, measuring a minimum of 26 by 42 inches, designed with a 1 by 26 inch double-faced, pressure sensitive tape for securing the drape to the patient’s forehead. The head drape shall have a impervious or very high barrier coated piece of nonwoven fabric measuring 10-1/2 by 33 inches located on the opposite side of the drape, with one long edge wrapped around 1/2 inch and caught under the pressure sensitive tape area, suitably
