BAGS, URINE COLLECTION – MEASURING DEVICE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description as a replacement for Military Specification MIL-S-B-0037189A (DLA-DM), which is cancelled.
This Commercial Item Description covers a sterile, disposable plastic urine collection bag with urometer.
Salient characteristics:
The adult urine collection bag shall be supplied in the following two sizes:
Size 1 – 200 cubic centimeters sterile bag, with urometer and adjustable hanger, to permit suspension from a bad, chair, or patient.
The sterile disposable urine collection bag shall consist of a main drainage urine container, an integral or attached urometer, an inlet tube with catheter adapter, drain tube assemblies, and an adjustable hanger to permit suspension from a bad, chair, or patient.
The bag design shall be such that urine automatically overflows from the urometer into the main bag when the capacity of the urometer is exceeded. The design shall also permit the elective emptying of the urometer contents into the main bag. A closed system shall be maintained during overflow or emptying of urometer contents into the main drainage bag.
