COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
ENVELOPE, STERILIZATION (Self Sealing)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This commercial item description covers combination paper/plas sterilization envelopes suitable for use in steam and ethylene oxide sterilization, and closed by use of a self-sealing adhesive closure.
Salient characteristics:
The sterilization envelope shall be constructed of medical grade paper on one side and plastic film covering on the other side. The sides and one end of the envelope shall have a seal which shall remain intact before, during and after sterilization. The open end of the envelope is to be sealed by means of a pressure-sensitive adhesive strip of sufficient width to completely seal the envelope. Closure of the envelope shall be evident upon visual inspection of the seal. Exposure to steam or ethylene oxide shall in no way adversely affect the integrity of the seal.
Style A. White medical grade paper and clear plastic construction.
Style B. Medical grade paper; plastic is blue or a blue tint construction.
