COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BOTTLE, SCREW CAP, (Plastic Square)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description as a replacement for Interim Federal Specification L-B-001190 (DLA-DM) which will be cancelled.
This commercial item description covers one type of polyethylene bottle, suitable for use as a container for medicaments.
Salient characteristics:
The bottle shall be square shape, 6 ounce capacity, plastic type, with a screw cap closure.
The bottle shall be fabricated of polyethylene, and shall be square in shape, with straight walls, a cylindrical wide mouth opening, and an exterior continuous threaded finish for the closure. The thread finish shall have at least one complete turn of full thread projection. The shoulder and all corners of the bottle shall be rounded. The bottle shall have a flat bottom and shall be stable when placed on a smooth, flat surface.
The screw cap closure shall be fabricated of polypropylene, internally threaded with a continuous type thread formed as an integral part of the cap. The thread shall match that on the bottle to make a secure closure. The cap shall contain an integral liner to form a seal when full contact is made with the upper edge of the bottle. Vertical ribs or ridges shall be provided on the outer wall of the screw cap to facilitate removal or tightening of the closure.
