COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
PATIENT UTILITY KIT
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This Commercial Item Description covers a disposable patient care kit packaged in a plastic tray.
Salient characteristics:
The patient utility kit shall consist of the following seven components packaged in a plastic tray which serves as a receptacle for storage:
Mouthwash. Each patient utility kit shall contain a 3 to 5 ounce plastic bottle of mouthwash. The mouthwash shall provide soothing temporary relief of dry mouth and minor irritations. Each bottle shall be clearly labeled.
Hand cream. Each patient utility kit shall contain a 3 to 5 ounce plastic bottle of a homogenous emollient lotion suitable for use as a hand cream. The hand cream shall not dry out the patient’s skin, and shall retain an even consistency in storage. The plastic bottle shall be of the squeeze type with a non-drip pour spout. The bottle shall be clearly labeled.
Tissues. Each patient utility kit shall contain 100 to 200 2-ply white tissues. Tissues shall be enclosed in a package designed to enable consecutive tissues to “pop up” from package.
Soap. Each patient utility kit shall contain a 1 to 2 ounce bar of deodorant soap. The bar of soap shall be suitably wrapped and clearly labeled.
Toothbrush. Each patient utility kit shall contain a multi-tufted, straight line design nylon bristle toothbrush. The toothbrush shall be 6 to 7 1/2 inches in length. The bristles shall be of uniform length 3/8 to 1/2 inches in length. The toothbrush shall be wrapped in a clear plastic wrapper. The toothbrush shall have at least 27 tufts with an approximately one inch length brush head.
