BOTTLE, SCREW CAP, (Plastic)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Military Specification MIL-B-16586C.
This commercial item description covers a cylindrical, narrow mouth, plastic, screw-cap bottle with a capacity of four fluid ounces, and printed instructions regarding use of copper sulfate solution in treatment of phosphorous burns.
Salient characteristics:
The screw-cap bottle shall be for use with stock-listed medical supply sets NSN 6545-00-924-4825 and NSN 6545-00-924-8125 as a container for copper sulfate solution to be used for treatment of phosphorous burns.
The screw-cap bottle assembly shall consist of a bottle with a screw cap closure and required printed instructions for use on the bottle and cap.
The bottle shall be of one piece construction, cylindrical in shape, with a narrow mouth and screw neck, fabricated from polyethylene material. The screw neck shall have a continuous exterior thread to accommodate the screw-cap, and a flat top surface at the opening which is level and free of ridges to allow a leak proof closure. The dimensions of the bottle shall be such that the overall height is greater than the diameter measured midway between the shoulder and the bottom of the bottle. The bottle shall be stable when placed on a flat and level surface.
The screw-cap shall be fabricated from rigid molded plastic or polypropylene material, sufficiently threaded with an interior thread for closure on the screw neck of the bottle. The inside of the cap shall be suitable to form a leakproof seal with the top surface of the bottle during closure. A liner, if supplied, shall be secured to the inside of the cap in such a manner that it does not fall out of the cap or so it is not off-center when in the closure position, and has a facing that is impervious to water and to a 1.0% concentration of copper sulfate solution.
