TRAY SET, ENDOSCOPIC INSTRUMENT STERILIZATION
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers a cold sterilization and disinfection tray set for use with flexible fiberoptic endoscopes or other instruments.
Salient characteristics:
The plastic tray set shall be suitable for use in the cold sterilization and disinfection of endoscopic instruments, and other equipment.
The tray set shall consist of two soaking and rinsing trays approximately 26 inches (66.1 cm) long by 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide by 5 inches (12.7 cm) deep, one perforated inner liner, and one lid.
The tray set shall be constructed of a suitable plastic material which shall be non-reactive with disinfectants and detergents. The trays, liner, and lid shall be a one piece construction capable of withstanding cold sterilization without any signs of crazing, cracking, distortion, or other visible deterioration.
The tray set shall have the capability of either steam or gas (ethylene oxide) sterilization between usage in order that a sterile field be created for each use.
The tray lid and liner shall rest evenly without rock in the body of the tray. The tray shall rest evenly on a flat surface without rock or wobble.
All components of the tray set shall be free of cracks, tears, holes, or ripples. All surfaces and edges shall be smooth and free from burrs or sharp edges. Finish shall be free of scratches or mars. All components shall be free of grease, oil, dirt, chips, or other foreign materials.
