COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
The Commercial Item Description covers a lung exerciser suitable for use by patient requiring inspiratory therapy.
Salient characteristics:
The device shall be a single patient use, pulmonary exerciser which utilizes the body function of inspiration.
The exerciser unit shall have three chambers, each with a floating spherical ball which shall be raised by patient inspiratory effort. Each chamber and ball shall progressively indicate patient inspiratory effort of achieving specified settings when the ball reaches the top of its chamber.
The exerciser shall provide incentive settings by a patient with 20/20 (corrected) vision at a distance of at least 3 decimeters (eyes to indicator) at an angle off perpendicular of 20 degrees.
The low effort chamber shall indicate approximately 600 cc/inspired effort, the medium chamber shall indicate approximately 900 cc/sec, and the high effort chamber shall indicate inspired effort of approximately 1200 cc/sec.
