SPECIMEN KIT, URINE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers a kit suitable for collecting of an uncontaminated urine specimen by medical personnel in military medical treatment facilities.
Salient characteristics:
Shall be a mid-stream urine collection kit oriented for use by medical personnel.
The kit shall be individually packaged in a sealed peel-open type container capable of maintaining sterility of contents and consist of the following components:
A wide-mouth specimen container, 3 ounces minimum capacity, with leakproof cap and pressure-sensitive adhesive label to identify the patient and sample.
Two medium size, interchangeable, disposable right and left hand plastic gloves.
A waterproof, plastic coated underpad.
Sufficient number of prep balls or pads for proper cleansing.
30 ml of provodine iodine solution.
Easily understood instructions for kit use. Instructions may be clearly marked on the kit container, or on an insert card, inside the container.
Each kit shall be supplied sterile, and shall be disposable.
The specimen kit shall be expiration dated for 36 months from the date of manufacture. Not more than 3 months of the expiration dating period shall have elapsed from the date of manufacture of the kit to the date of delivery to the Government.
