BOWLS, SURGICAL SPONGE (Plastic)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This Commercial Item Description covers a disposable plastic surgical sponge bowl.
Salient characteristics:
The surgical sponge bowl shall be a disposable, plastic, sterile bowl suitable for use in operating and emergency rooms. The bowl shall rest evenly on a flat surface and be free from objectionable odor, sharp edges, cracks, holes, or thin areas.
The bowl shall be reinforced with a top rim. The rim shall have slots to allow resting of instruments without contamination. The bowls shall be made of molded plastic and shall be of the following approximate sizes:
Size 1 – 6 inches O.D at the top, 2-21/32 inches deep, approximate 32 fluid ounce overall volume.
Size 2 – 6 inches I.D at the top, 2-1/2 inches deep, approximate 32 fluid ounce overall volume.
