URINAL, MALE PATIENT
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description as a replacement for Commercial Item Description A-A-50863, which is cancelled.
This commercial item description describes a disposable and reusable plastic urinal for the collection of male patient urine.
Salient characteristics. The male patient urinal shall consist of a container, an integral handle, and an attached tight-fitting, odor shield lid. Urinals shall be fabricated from a durable, inert, plastic material which may be a blend of virgin material and reground material. The reground material may not exceed 30 percent of the blend. The urinal shall be capable of standing in an upright position and to rest on its side with the opening angled upwards. Urinals shall be finished smooth on all edges and surfaces and shall be free of flaws and excess flashing. The bottom and side-sitting surfaces shall be formed in such a manner that will not allow the urinal to rock or wobble when resting on a smooth surface. Urinals shall not leak when filled to capacity and in the upright position.
Type I – Disposable, (polyethylene), translucent: beige, tan, mint green or white.
Type II – Reusable and sterilizable, (polypropylene), aqua, blue or turquoise.
Type III – Disposable, (polyethylene), translucent: white.
The handle shall be designed to permit the urinal to be hung on a bedrail (in an upright position) and may be of open finger grip or open contoured design.
